Services for Mr. Lucious Clay Richardson will be held 1:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2010 at Greenview First Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Bethel AME Church Cemetery, St. Matthews, SC.

Mr. Richardson was born on November 11, 1926 in St. Matthews, SC to the late Henry Paul and Ada Walker Richardson. He was affectionately called Uncle Newt.  He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit.

Afer serving in the US Army, he migrated to Chicago, Illinois where he met and married the late Mildred Swinton. While in Chicago, he joined the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Male Chorus and the Musical Choir. He was employed by Van Leer Container, Inic. and retired after 30 years of employment.

Because of failing health, Mr. Richardson returned to Columbia, South Carolina to live with his niece and nephew, John and Judy Davis. Upon his return, he joined Greenview First Baptist Church and attended service faithfully.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his two sisters, Earnistine (Alexander) Middleton and Josephine (J.C.) Black of columbia; sisters-in-law, Eunice Richardson of Bronx, New York, Marilyn (James) Hollins, Helen Rose Owens, Laura (Ray) Hodges of Kansas City, Kansas; and Alvert Woody of Detroit, Michigan; God sons, Hercules Richardson of Chicago, Illinois and Leslie Gilbert of Victorville, California; and a host of nieces; nephews;  cousins and friends
