Bobby “Bubba” Mack Felder, died Thursday July 08, 2010 at the VA Dorn Medical Center, Columbia. Born in Sumter County he was the eldest son of the late Mack and Ossie Mae Durant-Felder. Bobby was a member of Union Station AME Church in Sumter. He attended the Sumter public schools and was a trumpet player in the Marching Band at both Bates Middle and Lincoln High Schools. He graduated from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1971 and attended Sumter Technical College. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he also played in the Band.  He was formerly employed by: Weston Auto, Woolco Company, Tamper Corp, Thermal Engineering Corp, Asplundah Tree Company, Sumter Builders and was self-employed as an auto mechanic.

 

Surviving are:  two sons, Melvin and his wife Melanie Scruggs of Germany, Patrick Anthony Felder of Columbia, S.C.; five daughters:  Bobbi Lynette and her husband Edwardo Allen, Sherry Janel Felder, Kenyatta Nicholle Williams all of Sumter Alexis Cherrelle Felder and Racquelle Felder of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Michael and his wife Catherine Felder of Syracuse, N.Y. and David and his wife Edith of Sumter;  two  sisters, Maxine L. and her husband Vernell of Pinewood, S.C. and Edna M. Richardson of Sumter; nine grandchildren and his wife, Patricia Cherry Lane Felder of Columbia and his former wife Alfreda Williams-Spann of Sumter and a  host of other relatives.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Union Station AME Church, with the pastor, Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, presiding, assisted by Evangelist Michael E. Felder, Eulogist, Rev. Joshua Dupree, Rev. Robert E. Galloway and Elder Randall Jackson. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter.

 

Mr. Felder will be placed in the church for viewing, 12:00 noon Thursday until the hour of service. The public may view Mr. Felder from noon until 8:00 p.m. and a Wake Service will be held from 6:00-8:00 Wednesday evening at the Palmer Memorial Chapel in Sumter. The family will receive friends at 212 Barefoot Court in Sumter. The funeral procession will depart from the family residence at 12:00 noon on Thursday.
