Ernest McKnight

And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.” Revelation 21:1-2 Mr. Ernest Lee McKnight was born to the late Mr. Henry James McKnight, Sr and Mrs. Lucille Dubose McKnight on July 22, 1960, in Pinewood, SC. He was the tenth child of twelve. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2018 at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Ernest was reared in a Christian home and at an early age he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Antioch A.M.E. Church, where he was an active member of the junior choir and Sunday School Department. Ernest was known for always reciting scriptures with ease as a young child. Ernest formal education was obtained in the public schools of Sumter County and he was a 1978 graduate of Furman High School. While attending Furman High School, he was a member of the Baseball Team. He was given the nickname “chicken” by his teammates because he could run and move fast on the baseball field like a chicken. After graduating high school, Ernest went directly into the workforce for a short period of time. Ernest than decided that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and join the military. He enlisted in the United States Marines for a few months and was honorably discharged. Ernest moved to New York, NY and started his career as a Security Officer. He was employed for many years as a Security Officer for the State of New York. Ernest was best known as “Ray” to all of his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face. He had a sense of humor and a lovable personality. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and two cousins. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: six children, two daughters, Katrina McKnight of Sumter, SC, and Shaina Junious of New York, NY; four sons, Jamel McKnight of Pinewood, SC, Ernest Junious of Bronx, NY, Jaylen Junious, and Sean Junious of New York, NY; four grand daughters, Kennedi, Ja’Miyah, Arianna, and Alyssa; one grandson, Joshua; one sister, Ms. Elease McKnight of Pinewood, SC; seven brothers, Henry (Queen Victoria) McKnight, Jr of New York, NY, Mr. Johnnie McKnight, Mr. Albert McKnight, Mr. Richard McKnight, and Mr. Herbert McKnight all of Pinewood, SC, Willie McKnight of Atlanta, GA, and Stanley O’Neil McKnight of Spokane, WA; two aunts, Mrs. Pearl M. Brunson and Ms. Georgia Mae McKnight of Pinewood, SC; one uncle, Mr. James McKnight of Charlotte, NC; one grand aunt, Mrs. Ruth T.
