Mr. James M. Percer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Life Reflections… James M. Percer, departed this life on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the residence of his godchildren in Sumter, SC. Born October 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Maude Percer. He graduated from Camden High School in Old Trap, North Carolina. Three years after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. When his military career ended, he moved to Connecticut and was employed as a longshoreman. Sometimes later, he moved to Long Island and married Nettie White and to that union, a daughter was born , Linda Mae Percer. He then became a member of the Laborers Union Local No. 1298, working in Road and Heavy Construction in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. After his dissolution of marriage to Nettie, he later met and married Juanita Cabella Coleman until her death in 2010. Mr. Percer was an avid gardener, devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Due to his illness, James and Juanita moved from Long Island, New York to Sumter, South Carolina in 2008 to live with godchildren, Cyril and Naomi Pinto, Sr. In addition, to his spouse and parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Roosevelt and Joey. He leaves to cherish his precious memories; a daughter, Linda and her husband Ronald Sciortino; three grandchildren, Gina Richards, Irene Aikens, and James Percer Jr.; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
