Ms. Joann Issac

Reflections of JoAnn's Life Strength and honor are her clothing... She looketh well to the ways of her household. ..her children arise up and call her blessed... Proverbs 31:25-28 On May 20, 2023, Joann Isaac transitioned from labor to reward. She rejoiced in advance knowing that she would see Jesus her Savior. She dedicated her life as a servant knowing the responsibility to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone. Her deepest passion was for the children of generations to come. Joann was born on August 13, 1944. She was the daughter of Beatrice Lide and stepdaughter of Roscoe Lide, Sr. and father, William Isaac. She was educated in Richland County public schools and was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School Class of 1962. Joann worked as a manager of Macy's children's department for many years and later at the University of South Carolina in the Marine Science program where she would retire. Joann's zeal for God was infectious and everyone around her could feel her genuine love for God and mankind. She was the teacher for "The New Life" orientation class. Her anointed teaching gift was always evident at Young's Chapel Baptist church and Haskell Heights First Baptist church. She touched many, many lives over the years. A student of the word she exemplified "Study to show herself approved unto God, a worker that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. She taught with understanding and clarity the word of God. Joann was a devoted Sunday school teacher, Altar ministry worker, past member of the Voices of Deliverance, Pastor's Aid, Audio Tape ministry, previous Deaconness, Joann also previously was the chairperson for the community March of Dimes Drive, member of USC Dean's staff advisory committee, USC campus tour advisory committee. Joann was affectionately called "NaNa" by her grandchildren and god children. Joann was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Beatrice and Roscoe Lide, Sr. sisters, Mary L. Pinchback, Mary E. Odoms, Dorethea Myers, Dorothy Amaker, brothers, Jenkins Odom, Jr, Roscoe Lide, Jr. Joann leaves to honor and cherish her memory her devoted and loving daughter Deborah Elaine Cook-James (Demetrius), grandson, Charles M. Cook, granddaughters, Kayla C. Robinson, Rebekah S. Harper, godson, Terrell Riley a devoted goddaughter, Thearica Bright- Mickle and godson, Isaiah Gomez, a loving and devoted adopted brother Andre Mcknight. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a contribution to The Brandon Byrd Memorial Scholarship.
