Laikyn Rhose Finney

Laikyn Rhose Finney departed this earthly life on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. Born in Columbia, South Carolina on May 29, 2015, she was the youngest of five children born to Peter Thomas Finney and Rhea Georgette Willis. Little Laikyn was unique in a very special way. She was born with a “ spot shaped like a Rose “ located on the back of her head . From her very first day on the earth, she responded to touch, voices and movement, as if she could make connections between what she had heard in the womb and what she recognized after her birth. She would stop crying just by her father’s touch and she knew how to get him to respond in meeting her every need. Laikyn had differing sounds that she would make to communicate her varying needs and she did not like to be left alone. She enjoyed the constant attention of her mother, father and other family members. When she awakened from sleeping, she would open her eyes and there was always a smile on her face. She was an “old spirit” in an infant body with a sweet and peaceful nature. Her pleasant, joyful personality captured the love and attention of everyone around her. Even at her young age, she actively participated in whatever activity was going on in her immediate surroundings. She liked music and tried to communicate with her mom and dad by making different sounds and expressions; she enjoyed being held by her brother Joseph, her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who always looked forward to the next visit to spend time with precious, sweet and loveable Laikyn. Laikyn Rhose was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ida Ragin Willis; her maternal great-grandparents, Rebecca Geddis Willis, Levan Willis, Christine Andrews Ragin and Joseph Charlie Ragin; her paternal great-grandparents, Delores Finney, Virginia Boyd and Glover Boyd, Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her loving and devoted parents, Rhea Georgette Willis and Peter Thomas Finney; her siblings: Aaron Finney, Ariel Finney, Ethan Finney and Joseph Marshall IV; her paternal grandparents, Derrick Finney, Katrina Boyd Finney and Great-grandfather, Willie Gaskins; her maternal grandparents, George Willis and Angeletta Gaillard Willis and a host of other relatives and friends.
