Mrs. Margie Ree Gardner-Mack

Margie Ree Gardner-Mack was born on July 28, 1951 in Columbia, SC, to the late Jerry Gardner, Sr. and Annie Mae Adams-Gardner. Margie was called to eternal rest on Friday, February 28, 2014 after an extended illness. Margie knew the Lord and served Him faithfully. At an early age, she became a member of Piney Grove AME Church of Gaston, SC, where she served in various capacities including the Missionary Society, Trustee Board, and Food Committee until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Even after her health failed, she continued to contribute in any way she could to her family. Margie attended Lakeview High School in West Columbia, SC. After completing high school, her previous employers included Midlands Technical College, NCR, Hansley Industries, Sodexo Food Service, Bates House and Russell House both at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and Carolina Catering Service. Margie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was truly a blessing to all that knew her and she would unselfishly help others in their time of need. Margie lived a life worthy of admiration and celebration and while she will be missed dearly, her memory will forever brighten the hearts of those she left behind. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded by a son, Edsel Gardner, a daughter, Bridgette Annette Mack, a brother, Jerry Gardner, Jr. and a beloved sister-in-law, Willia Dean Morgan. Those left to cherish memories are her sons, Vincent Mack (Rhonda), Marion Earl Mack, Jr. and special friend (Natarsha Adams) and Isaiah Porterfield (whom she reared from the age of three days as her own son).; nine grandchildren, Shanta, Dontavious, Kendrell, Carly, Sabrina, Malik, Logan, Jadyn and Tyquesha; one great grandson, Austin Mack; four sisters, Francis Richardson of West Columbia, SC, Patricia Way of Gaston, SC, Ganell Way and Ethel Mae Boozer, both of West Columbia, SC; and a host of devoted nieces; nephews; family and friends. She is remembered fondly by her extended family in Orangeburg, SC and dear friends Ora Davis and Christine Story. Services will be held 12 noon Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Piney Grove AME Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
