Nolan Bossard Sr.

Life Reflections “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all to have longed for his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8 Mr. Nolan Bossard, Sr. was born on June 16, 1932, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Jack and Vertelle Williams Bossard. On Wednesday, March, 4, 2015, he departed this life for eternal rest at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, South Carolina. Mr. Bossard was educated at Congruity School in Sumter, South Carolina and graduated in the class of 1952. He served four years in the United States Army and upon leaving the military; he was employed at Shaw Air Force Base as the Produce Manager of the Commissary for over 30 years. Mr. Bossard was a soft-spoken individual with a humble and caring spirit. He had an amiable personality and this enabled him to make friends easily for the Bible declares that a man who has friends must show himself friendly. He greatly touched the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Having been reared in a Christian home, he accepted Christ as the center of his faith and at an early age he attended St. Paul AME Church where he served as Steward Protem, Trustee, a member of the Lay Organization, Usher Ministry, Church School Teacher, a member of the Gospel Deliverance Choir, Senior Choir, and Male Chorus. He was also a faithful member of St. Paul Lodge No. 9, Free and accepted Masons of Sumter, South Carolina and the CC Johnson Consistory #136, 32 Degrees, Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Bossard was also a member of the V.F.W.. In 1953, Nolan married Mildred Taylor Bossard. To this union of 63 years, three children were born. Nolan was preceded in death by one son, Howard Bossard; a sister, Mattie Bossard White; and three brothers: Windsor Williams, Donald and Lex Bossard. Precious memories will be shared by his loving wife, Mildred Taylor Bossard; two sons, Nolan (Glenda) Bossard Jr., of Sumter, South Carolina and Craig (Antwanette) A. Bossard of Baltimore, Maryland; a very close friend like a daughter, Aleitha A. Frierson; one sister, Ora Lee Britton of Sumter, South Carolina, Dorothy (Henry) Pressley of Columbia, South Carolina, and Leola Bossard of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister-in-law Lillian Morris; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and caring friends.
