Mr. Pisano H. Barno

Mr. Pisano H. Barno, 72, was called home on Sunday April 27,2014. Born July 1, 1941 in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Phanes L. Barno Sr. and Sadie D. Barno. Mr. Barno was a product of the Sumter Public School System and later attending North Carolina A&T where he studied masonry. Mr. Pisano H. Barno served his country in the United States Army from February 10, 1960 till February 4, 1963 as as PFC Gunner. During his military career Mr. Barno received badges as a marksman, sharp shooter, and expert sharp shooter. After his military career Mr. Barno was the President and CEO of Barno and Associates Construction located in Sumter where he constructed many facilities throughout the Carolinas. Prior to phasing out his company his last and most successful contact was the construction of the former Union Camp were he later worked as an Operations Manager. Mr. Barno as a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church for many years later joining St. John Baptist Church in Hopkins, SC. Mr. Barno, also affectionally known as Pete or Barno, was admired by all who encountered him. He had many passions in his life which were religion, family, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and golfing. Through his passions he's made countless lifelong friends. It was instilled in him to always assist anyone in need. Barno had a mission to teach the Bible and with knowing this, he shared of himself by conducting bible study at various shelters in Sumter County and discussed the love he had for the Lord to all he encountered. Barno placed his many God given talents to use by effortlessly and selflessly assisting all who were in need. Mr. Pisano H. Barno leaves to morn his wife Pauline Barno of the home. Also morning his departure are his beloved children. His daughters: Donna Peoples (Arthur) of VA; Angela Barno of Sumter, SC; Tonie Abraham of Sumter, SC; and Tabitha Sims of Gadsen, SC. One son Gerald Abraham (Felicia) of Columbia, SC. Six grandchildren: Asha Barno (Russell) of VA; Kevin L. Peoples, Jr.; Timothy Keels of Sumter, SC; Malcolm Miller of Gadsden, SC; Davarius Abraham and Amber Abraham of Columbia, SC. One great-grandson Corde' D. Ellison of VA. One goddaughter Le'Deshia Dinkins of Sumter, SC. He additionally is survived by his brothers: William Barno (Grace) of NY; Reggie Barno of Ohio, and George (Yvonne) of NY. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sallie B. Felder of NY; brothers; Walter Lee Barno Sr. of Ala.; and Voicelle Barno (Berndadine); Phanes L. Barno, Jr. of Sumter, SC. Furthermore he leaves five sister-in-laws Corine Appleby (Fred); Mable Garner; Daisy M. Higgins (John); Gertrude Murray (James) all of Eastover, SC; and Sharon Watson (Charles) from Monroe, NC. and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
