Mr. Robert Randolph

Bobby gained his wings by his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on October 28, 2022, at his residence with his wife and children by his side. Bobby was born in the midst of love. His family loved him, and he was the King to his Queen, Palmira of 61 marital blissful years and to his family. On June 25, 1934, Robert Randolph was born to the late James and Mary Adams Randolph in Hopkins South Carolina. He was spiritually raised, at an early age, in the New Zion Benevolent Baptist Church in Hopkins, S.C. After the untimely death of his mother as an infant, he was raised by his older sister, Melissa, whom he called his “Mama.” Educated in the Richland County School District, he graduated from Hopkins High School in 1951 & obtained his Associates Degree in Accounting, from Columbia Junior College in 1982. After graduating from high school, he was employed with South Carolina State Park Hospital and in 1955 enlisted in The United States Navy and retired after twenty-three years of service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1978. He was a Vietnam war veteran and earned many accolades during his service to our country, which included: National Defense Service Medal; Navy Good Conduct Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Navy Commendation Unit Ribbon; Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon; Combat Action Ribbon; and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon. Received four Conduct Bronze Service Stars. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was Owner of his Janitorial Company, Robert's Cleaning Services and was employed with TJ Maxx as the Warehouse Manager with his retirement in 1999. During his senior years, he enjoyed sharing his stories of his war days, his military experiences and lifelong stories of segregation in the south. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his grandsons, Reginald & Ramon Nieves; great granddaughter Raina Nieves; brothers: Booker, Wesley, Earnest, Joseph, Ellison, James, Jr. and Berry Randolph, Sr; sisters: Hattie Randolph, Melissa Adams, Mary Magdalene Sims and Janie Mae Whitaker. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Palmira; Son, Jose (Paulette) Nieves, Sr.; Daughters, Wanda (James Lowman) Randolph and Marguerite Randolph. Four grandchildren: Jose (Mickelle) Nieves, Jr., LaToya Nieves, his namesake Robert (Brenda) Randolph-Cooper, Sr., Ryan (Andrea) Jones. Fourteen great grandchildren: his brother, Thomas Randolph; sister: Mamie (Otis) Eleazer; brothers-in-law: Carlos (Donna Gomez) Olivencia, Sr, Salomon Ortiz, Jr. and Saturno Soto; sisters-in-law; Isabel Garcia, Carmen Ortiz, Edith (Santos) Gonzalez; his former daughter in laws, whom he had and maintained a heartfelt relationship with, Felicia Jones and Angela Alexander and a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
