William Rhue

Mr. William Rhue was born May 29, 1932, in Marion, South Carolina to the late Reuben and Rebecca Livingston Rhue. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, December, 18 2014, at National Health Care Parklane, a local assisted living center in Columbia, South Carolina. William was educated in the public schools of Marion County. He left South Carolina to join the Army and served as a medic in the 82nd Airborne and several Special Forces units and retired after 24 years of dedicated service to his country. William retired in 1972 and worked as an assistant trauma surgeon in the emergency room and as a facility manager for the US Postal Service. He returned to South Carolina in 1994. William was a faithful member of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served diligently on the Usher Board. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mary L. Graves Rhue on September 6, 1953 in the presence of their special friends, Joseph Frazier and Jerry Hill. This union was blessed with four children and more than 50 years of love. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew him. William leaves to cherish precious memories four devoted sons: William (Christine) Rhue, of Escanaba, Michigan; Barry (Kimbrelyn) Rhue, Michael (Mary) Rhue, all of Columbia, SC; and Eddie (Julie) Rhue of Anaheim, CA; eleven grandchildren, Ontaneque “Nikki”, Joshua, Timothy, Michael Jr., Donjae’, Alex, Lauren, Syaasha, Jalisa, Aric, and Kwame; eight great-grandchildren Jadon, Sian, Kamea, Za’Vion, Tayla, Michael, Gabrielle and Vivian; a niece Geneatha Brown (Clinton) Williams of Walterboro, SC; two brothers, Thomas (Fannie-Mae) Rhue Jr. , of Darlington, SC; and Samuel (Dorothy) Rhue; of New York, NY; four sisters Iola Barr of Philadelphia, PA; Dorothy McZeak of Menifee, CA; Hazel (Liston)Page of Paterson, NJ and Eliza Cummings Brown of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
