Andrae Joseph Smith

September 16, 1981 - October 31, 2021

OBITUARY Mr. Andrae Joseph Smith (Smoove) Son of Mary Ann Miller-Smith and the late TSgt Joseph Alvin Smith USAF Vietnam veteran was born September 16, 1981 in Sumter County, at Shaw AFB Hospital, located in Sumter, South Carolina. Andrae attended Sumter County private and public schools and received training at Sumter County Adult Education, Sumter County Vocational Rehabilitation Center, and the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. Andrae attended Mount Pisgah AME Church during his early years and he also attended Sunday School, Children’s Choir, YPD, Vacation Bible School and because the Lord Blessed Andrae with enhanced height, he was a perfect choice to aid with the sanctuary chandelier maintenance as well as other duties in preparation for the Annual Northeast Conference of the Seventh Episcopal District Church. Andrae loved to play basketball, was an ardent reader, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, although Andrae battled a chronic illness, Type I Juvenile Diabetes, diagnosed at age (6), Andrae contended with his illness and enjoyed his life to the best of his ability until his vision became impaired. Although Andrae’s vision impairment impeded his ability to play basketball, he amassed a rather impressive collection of basketball shoes and hats. Andrae peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2021, comforted by his tirelessly devoted mother Ms. Mary Ann Miller-Smith faithfully by his side, since birth. Andrae leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Ms. Mary Ann Miller-Smith, of Sumter, SC. Two sisters, Ms. Jernitha Shanta Smith, of Sumter, SC. And Mrs. Jacqulyn D. Smith-Bell (Phillip), of Savannah, GA. Two maternal Aunts, Ms. Margie L. Miller, and Mrs. Denise York (Seal), of Sumter, SC. One paternal aunt Ms. Nancy A. Smith, of Lynchburg, VA. Three nieces, Ms. Kennedi Leigh-Anne Martin & Miss Kori LeiLani-Anne Gaines, of Sumter, SC., and Ms. Philiseah Bell of, Savannah, GA. Two nephews, Mr. Phillip Bell Jr. and Mr. Michael Bell of Savannah, GA. Andrae was predeceased by his father the TSgt Joseph Alvin Smith. Paternal grandparents Deacon Jacob M. & Jessie M. Smith. Maternal grandparents Mr. Lincoln & Mrs. Bennie Mae Miller. One maternal uncle Mr. Lincoln Albert Miller. Four paternal uncles, Mr. Curtis A. Smith, Mr. Ezekiel A. Smith, Mr. Lee H. Smith, and Mr. Archie L. Smith and paternal Aunt Ms. Rosa S. Smith-Callands.
