Mrs. Bobbie Nell Oxendine

August 25, 1937 - August 14, 2021

On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at her home in Wedgefield, South Carolina, God, in His infinite wisdom, called Mrs. Bobbie Nell Oxendine to exchange her earthly cross for her Heavenly crown. Born August 25, 1937 in Laurens, South Carolina, she was the youngest of thirteen children of the late Calvin and Carrie Barnes Reid. Bobbie attended the public schools of Laurens, South Carolina and was a 1964 graduate of Sanders High School. She continued her education at The Martha Washington Nursing School in Washington, DC. 'Mrs. Bobbie', as she was affectionately called, was united in holy matrimony to Harrison Oxendine, Sr. for 65 years. Their union was blessed with four children. Together they raised children, managed a business and lived a beautiful life. While living in Washington, DC, she was a member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Church in Washington, DC. After moving back to South Carolina in 1975, Bobbie joined New Hope Ministry in Sumter, South Carolina. She was Missionary President, choir member and Mother of the Church. 'Mrs. Bobbie' worked for The Government Printing Office in Washington, DC. She retired from the Accounting and Finance Office at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. She also spent her time volunteering at Tuomey Hospital, logging more than 1500 hours helping others. 'Mrs. Bobbie' had a calming personality. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, and walking. She was always smiling and joyful. 'Mrs. Bobbie' was a loyal and trustworthy friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and her grandchild, Carrison Oxendine. She leaves to cherish her loving, precious memories: her devoted husband, Harrison Oxendine, Sr. of the home; two sons, Harrison Oxendine, Jr. of Columbia, SC and Cary Oxendine of Mapleshade, NJ; two daughters, Brenzena (Cletis) Oxendine-Avery of Atlanta, GA and Maria (Taurus) Oxendine-Hugee of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren, Tristan Oxendine, Justin Oxendine, Harrison Oxendine III, Alexis Avery, Cletis Avery II, Jordan Avery and Bryson Hugee; a special friend, Mary Spruill of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. To access the livestream of the service, please go to Facebook.com, search for Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc., and "like" the page. The livestream video will begin at the designated time of the service. Pending Life Reflections... This is a Covid 19 compliant service. Masks are required at the funeral home for public viewing and at the funeral services.
