Bryne Rosalyn Singleton Sumter

On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, Bryne Rosalyn Singleton Sumter took her last breathe at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Earl Singleton and Clara Juanita Medley Singleton and was later adopted by the late Ben and Lavinia Sumter. The oldest of three children, Bryne was an exceptional student. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn a Masters of Science in Mathematics from South Carolina State University. She was a dedicated high school educator and accomplished seamstress with an attentive eye for detail. Her greatest joy was sharing her creative sewing and homemaking abilities with her daughter and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin Earl Singleton, Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter Sylvia Rosalyn Sumter (Sut're Resuta) of Columbia, South Carolina; twenty-three loving grandchildren; a brother, George EJ (Jane Williams) Singleton of Silver Spring, Maryland; a niece, Jennifer Singleton (Brian) Richeson of Canton, Ohio; two greatnephews: Orin Richeson and Charles Richeson, both of Canton; a host of cousins and other relatives.
