Mr. Charles Edward Dickerson

Charles Edward "Sonny" Dickerson, 83, departed this life on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Lexington Community Hospice House in Lexington, South Carolina. He was born on January 15, 1939, in Columbia, South Carolina. He is survived by his dedicated wife, Jacqueline Dickerson; his daughter; Jacqueline (Gary) Dukes of Jonesboro, Georgia; two sons, Charles (Valerie) Thomas of Washington, D.C., and Anthony A. Seawright; his siblings; Reverend Leon Dickerson of Columbia, S.C., Marlene (James) Vickers of Columbia, S.C., Dorothy (Charles) Scott of Columbia, S.C., Gloria Moss of Columbia, S.C., Clarence (Easter) Dickerson of Irmo, S.C.; Vivian Erwin of Charlotte, N.C.,and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mazie Dickerson; his brother; Walter Dickerson; his brothers in law; Willie Erwin and Johnny C. Moss; Sisters-in law Ruby Dickerson and Ethel Dickerson; his fraternal twins; Kim Bigsby, and Ken Thomas. In his early years, he attended Richland County public schools. He spent 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was employed by the United States Postal Service, South Carolina Job Services, and South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation where he worked with the disabled. Before his health deteriorated, Charles loved cooking, drawing, and gardening. Charles was a faithful member of First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C. Charles, affectionately known as "Sonny" by family and friends touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and mild temperament. He was truly a source of positivity. He loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that Charles is at peace and surrounded by God's light.
