Ethel Mae Harvin

August 17, 1946 - March 16, 2018

Ethel Mae Harvin was born on August 17, 1946, in Wedgefield, South Carolina. She was the daughter of late Larry Johnson, Sr., Lillie Mae Johnson, Long and the stepdaughter of the late John Long, Sr. Ms. Harvin departed this earthly life on Friday March 16, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina. She was reared and educated in the Wedgefield Community of Sumter County. She attended the St. Michaels (later Delaine) Elementary School. Her Christian experience began at her former church, Wayman Chapel A.M.E. of Sumter, During her life span, she worked various places, such as; at home, The Fisherman’s Cove Restaurant, The Silver Moon Café and finally at Palmetto Health Tuomey. She had a warm and caring spirit with a generous heart. Ms. Ethel would help anyone that called on her in need. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards and Bingo; watching TV Gameshows and for her outdoor hobbies, she loved raising chickens, gardening and playing with her two dogs, Oreo and Peaches. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and a special friend to all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Prince Johnson, Leroy Johnson, and Rufus Johnson; five sisters, Mary Johnson, Gaydell Bailey, Irene C. Johnson, Judy Johnson and Barbara A. Johnson and the oldest nephew, Raymond Johnson. She leaves to cherish precious memories two daughters: Marlana Harvin and special friend John Coles Sr. and Sabrina (Moses) Singleton; two sons, Frankie Johnson, and Randy Johnson both of Wedgefield, SC; ten grandchildren, John Coles, Jr., Latonya Sinkler, Shanice Johnson, Quincy Johnson, Gardenia Rembert, Dijonay Singleton, Brandon Sinkler , Mario Brooks, Christopher Sinkler and Joshua Grinnell ; thirteen great- grand children ; four sisters, Lillie (Clarence) Hunter, Sumter, SC , Diane Johnson, Norwich, CT, Janie Lee Long, Wedgefield, SC and Cheryl Ann (Jesse) Oliver, New London, CT; three brothers, Freddie Johnson, New London, CT, John Long, Jr. Sumter, SC and Larry (Catherine) Johnson, New London, CT; special nieces, Jakia Long and TyeKiva Harvin; special friend: Rosa Dennis and a host of other relative and dear friends.
