Fulton Lockwood
September 18, 1936 - February 4, 2021
Fulton was a kind and friendly man who had a deep appreciation for nature. He spent many reflective hours sitting outside greeting neighbors passing by and he would often comment “thank God for another day!” In his calendar journal, he ended each entry describing his daily activities with “it was a good day.” Fulton accepted Christ at an early age and, in later years, served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, and a member of the Male Chorus at Willow Grove AME Church in Horatio, South Carolina. He expressed peace with God by saying “the Lord’s got me” when he recognized that his health was declining in recent weeks. Fulton departed this earthly life peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born on September 18, 1936 to the late Edward and Jane Lockwood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the oldest of four children. After graduating from South Philadelphia High School, Fulton joined the United States Army. Later, he relocated to South Carolina where he worked for the Goodrich Corporation as a production worker. He was also a very popular store clerk at Blanding’s Grocery on Highway 261 where he was always dressed impeccably. In his fifth decade, he enjoyed selling various wares at the Swap Meet on Highway 378. He retired from the Goodrich Corporation in the late 90's. Fulton is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Mozell Brevard Lockwood; a brother, Howard (Alyse) Lockwood; a dutiful daughter by marriage, Natalie Brevard Perry; three grandchildren by marriage Adrienne Lynette Perry, Allison Camille Brevard and Leah Kristen Brevard; and a host of very dear nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and close friends. Fulton was preceded in death by his beloved parents; a brother, Leroy Lockwood; a sister Doris Robinson; and a son by marriage, Lawrence Clayton Brevard.
