Ms. Gloria Goines Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gloria Weston – Goines, the third of five children born to the late Cantey “Blue” Weston and Mervel “Sugar” Cantey Weston was born on December 20, 1932, in Lexington County. S.C. She was called to eternal rest on Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence in Columbia, S.C. She attended public school in Cayce, S.C, and graduated from Lakeview High School, West Columbia, S.C. in the class of 1950. Gloria worked for Carson Pirie Scott & Company, Chicago Illinois and was later employed with J. C. Penney Company, Columbia, S. C. as sales Department Manager. She retired in 2003 with over twenty years of service. She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and she served in the following capacities: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Choir, Episcopal Church Women, Daughters of the King, Adult Formation and wherever her gifts and talents were needed. Gloria was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, POST # 4262. She was married to the late Henry L. Goines, and to their union, two (2) children were born, Cynthia T. Goines and Geoffrey W. Goines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers. Arnold L. Weston and Theodore Weston. She leaves to cherish precious memories her two children, Cynthia Goines, and Geoffrey (Tracey) Goines; six grandchildren: Brandon Halter, Crystal Halter-Spratt, Desmond Goines, Lateisha Goines, Gerrard Goines, and Cameron Goines; two Great- Grandchildren: Braylon Halter, and Christian Spratt; two sisters, Gwendolyn (Robert Jr.) Logan, and Veda Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Odessa T. Weston and Mildred Bernice Scott and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, 1:00 pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1300 Pine Street, Columbia, S.C. 29204. Visitation, Monday, July 11th, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Palmer Memorial Chapel, 1200 Fontaine Place, Columbia, S.C. 29223 In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, earmark, Fresh Start Ministry. Palmer Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
