February 16, 1966 - March 31, 2019
On Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Prisma Health Parkridge Hospital, Gregory “Greg” Fritzgerald Livingston, age 53, departed his earthly home, claimed his heavenly wings, and took flight to a new life and new home with the Lord. Greg, as he was affectionately called, was born on February 16, 1966, in rural Salley, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Tempie Livingston Adams and Howard L. Jones, and the stepson of the late Reverend Marion C. Adams, Sr., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alton (Mary B. Stradford) Livingston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie A. (Gladys Schofield) Jones. At an early age, Greg joined Antioch Baptist Church in North, South Carolina. In May 1995, Greg earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina—Aiken School of Nursing. He was certified as a Registered Nurse in July 1996 by the South Carolina Nursing Board. Greg enlisted in the United States Army and served two years followed by active duty with the South Carolina National Guard, where he completed a tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired in 2005 with the rank of E-5 Sergeant. Greg’s military honors and awards included: the Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon/Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. Following his college graduation, Greg’s professional nursing career began at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He later worked at Fresenius Kidney Care, GEO Care, and Providence Hospital, all in Columbia. Greg was a compassionate individual and dedicated nurse. Greg’s personality was golden: cheerful, charismatic, humorous, good-hearted, generous, and loving with family, friends, and neighbors. He never met a stranger, always helped those in need, and never expected anything in return. His soul mate was his wife, P.A., and the love of his life was daughter Anah. His memories will always be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, P.A. Bennett of the home; daughter, Anah D. Livingston, of Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Joye J. Adams, of Greensboro, North Carolina; brother, John A. (April Robinson) Adams of Columbia, South Carolina; two stepsisters: Fermiko A. Drummings and Kayla A. (Lenwood) Scott of North Augusta, South Carolina; a stepbrother, Staff Sergeant (Retired) Marion C. (Nancy) Adams, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
