Life Reflections Hattie Lloyd McNair Porter departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on November 20, 1926, in Robersonville, North Carolina, she was the seventh child of nine children born to the late the Eddie Lloyd and Mary Andrews Lloyd. Hattie received her former education in Martin County, North Carolina public Schools. In earlier years, she was the wife of Rev. J. P. McNair of Tarboro, North Carolina. Afterwards, she married Ernest J. Porter, Sr. of Sumter. Mrs. Porter was employed for over twenty years at Amphenol Aeronautics Corporation in Connecticut and was a member of Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church of Danbury. After retiring and settling in the Sumter Community, she joined St. James United Methodist Church and served faithfully. Mrs. Hattie desiring to remain active; worked as a caretaker for the family of Mr. and Mrs. Chris and Michelle Lee of Manning, South Carolina for many years. In her time of leisure, she enjoyed planting flowers, looking through fashion catalogs and traveling to visit her dear family and friends. May the memories of the good times together remain forever in their hearts. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters: Cleaverna Davis, Fannie Perkins, and Maebell Cooper; four brothers: Alonza Lloyd, Charlie “Tim” Lloyd, Ernest Andrews and Robert Lloyd. Those left to cherish precious memories are four children: Wanda McNair, Raleigh of North Carolina, Ernest (Angie) Porter, Jr., Sumter, South Carolina, Reo (Annette) Porter, Warner Robins, Georgia and Margaret Utley of New York; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; siblings: Lucy Bland, Norfolk, Virginia; and Arthur (Hester) Lloyd, Robersonville, North Carolina; two sisters in-law, Rudell Andrews, Long Island, New York, Pretto Porter, Sumter, South Carolina; two brothers in-law, Lafayette Porter, Fredericksburg, VA and Marion T. Porter, Warner Robins , Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends.
