Dr. Henry T. Marshall, Jr., departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at his residence in Blythewood, South Carolina. Born May 6, 1941, in the historic Good Samaritan Hospital in Columbia, he was the youngest of four children and the only son of the late Henry T. Marshall, Sr. and Vivian Brier Marshall. Dr. Marshall was a lifelong member of St. Luke Episcopal Church where he served in various capacities throughout his life. Educated in the segregated south, he was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1959. He attended Morehouse College and graduated from Benedict College Class of 1964, and completed professional school at Howard University College of Dentistry. He returned to Columbia and in 1970 entered into practice with Dr. Noble Cooper. He later began a solo career on Farrow Road where he practiced for over fifty years. He served on numerous community boards, including the Urban League, and conducted free dental clinics. He was passionate about his fraternity, Alpha Iota Boule, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omicron Phi Chapter, and the Savannah Chapter of Guardsmen. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Lorraine Marshall and Gwendolyn Clark; and his nephew, David Marshall. He leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife and companion of thirty-eight years, Janice Wannamaker Marshall of the home; a loving and attentive daughter, Jai-Shirelle Wannamaker Marshall of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters: Henri Etta Bynum of Columbia, and Marion Davis; three special nieces: Constance Aguayo, Gwendolyn Jackson, and Dr. Angela Davis; a nephew, Offie Clark; his mother-in-law, Verna Abney of St. Matthews, South Carolina; and other relatives and friends.
