October 22, 1924 - December 22, 2015
“I looked over Jordan and what did I see … There was a band of angels commin' after me.” On Tuesday morning, December 22, 2015, Inez Hayes Robinson reached toward heaven and joined that band of angels. Inez Hayes Robinson was born October 22, 1924, in Lakeview South Carolina to the late Stafford and Maggie Townsend Hayes. She and her siblings were nurtured in a loving Christian environment where her parents taught her to never place anyone or anything above God. She was a graduate of Allen University. She worked as a Nurse for Providence Hospital for more than 35 years until her retirement. During her many years of service at Chappelle Memorial AME she was a faithful member and served diligently as a Member of the Stewardess Board #2, Women’s Missionary Society, and was elected Woman of the Year 2009. She married the love of her life who was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Their union allowed them an opportunity to travel extensively and live in places like, France, Ohio, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, New Jersey and California. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing basketball and going to sporting events to watch her grandchildren who her inherited her athletic talents. Volunteering for the SC Commission for the Blind by teaching people to read Braille was not surpassed by her love for serving God, reading His word, and attending church. She thanked God for the precious moments He allowed her to spend with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Robinson; son Myron Ward Robinson; sisters, Vera Hayes and Beatrice Hayes and brothers, Fred, Charlie, Jasper, James, William and Sanford Hayes.
