Johnnie Mae Green Estell

November 18, 1926 - March 6, 2021

Life Reflections Mrs. Johnnie Mae Green Estell, widow of Charles E. Estell and daughter of the late John Green and Annie Mae Johnson Green, departed this life on Saturday, March 6, 2021, in New York City. She was born in Sumter County on November 18, 1926 and was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Mrs. Johnnie Mae accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She attended Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church while she lived in Sumter. After she moved to New York “Dot” became a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at West 140th Street New York City. At Mt. Zion, she served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Carl L. Washington, Jr. on the William A. Campbell Memorial Ministry and was faithful in giving her Tithes and Offerings. She was employed by Columbia Presbyterian Visiting Nurses of New York for 30 years and retired. In addition to her parents, John and Annie Mae Johnson Green and husband Charles E. Estell, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Allen Green and Kevin Jackson, one brother, Leroy “Sump” Green and a sister Mary Green. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sons, Leroy Green, Sumter, SC, and Elmer (Melisa) Green of Boston, MA; eight grandchildren, Kevin Jackson, Jr., Rasheen McFadden, Lia Pendarvis, Kevon Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, Ron Williams, Elizabeth Carethes and Kevin Green; an additional daughter-in-law, Lena Green. She was proud of her 15 great-grandchildren; her dear friend Alice Holloway and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
