Johnnie Clifton Thompson, Jr. transitioned Friday, April 3, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC. Born May 5, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Johnnie, Sr. and Lottie Ashford Thompson and was a 1962 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, he served his nation in the United States Army and was later employed by Colite Industries as a sign painter for 10 years and then Norfolk Southern Railways as a railroad conductor for over 40 years until his retirement in 2003. He was married to the late Dorothy Perry Thompson, and their union was blessed with three children. Active within his community, JC was involved with the Booker T. Washington Foundation and the Newcastle Neighborhood Association. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and his military travel to Korea. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Larry Thompson and Rosa Green. He leaves to cherish precious memories his two sons: Johnnie C. (Cathy) Thompson, III of Columbia and Jene (Aletrea) Thompson of Rock Hill; his daughter: Danya (Lisa) Ochoa of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his significant other Gloria Eaddy; two sisters: Rosa (John) Bray of Donahue, Georgia, and Gloria Gaines of Columbia; a brother Robert (Dot) Thompson of Columbia; and other relatives and friends who miss his presence dearly.
