Lee Roy Williams

June 19, 1958 - July 8, 2020

Lee Roy Williams departed this earthly life of Sunday, July 5th, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC. Born in Sumter County on June 19, 1958, he was a son of the late Geneva Williams. He was raised in a Christian home and was a former member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Mayesville, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Mayewood High School in the Class of 1976. Lee Roy served our country in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1981. He was employed by Martin Color-Fi in Sumter for over fifteen years. He also worked in the field of carpentry and at the WJB Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia South Carolina. Lee Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, Lee Roy was known for his love for cars and was quite particular about them. As a hobby, he especially enjoyed keeping them cleaned, shined and detailed. The joyful times spent together will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, he was preceded was preceded in death by his son, Bacari Peterson, a brother, Curtis Williams; a sister Cynthia Ann Hill and grandmother, Maebelle Williams. He leaves to cherish precious memories, three children, Tamara (David) Tate, Shawndolyn James all of Sumter and Tyrone Rembert of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren, Andrea James and Aiden James both of Sumter, SC; special cousins: Wanda (Gary) Commander, Arthur Williams, and Lindsay Williams all of Sumter, Tracy (Tonja) Turner, Atlanta, Georgia, Latonya Bennett and Nichole (Wilbur) Parks, Little Rock, Arkansas; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and a very special friend,Theodore Mack of Sumter. 06
