Life Reflections Mrs. Lillie Mae Witherspoon, departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Palmetto Health Tuomey Medical Center in Sumter S.C. She was born on November 15, 1924 in Bishopville, S. C. to the late Ms. Janie Fisher. Mrs. Witherspoon was a graduate of Lincoln High School and matriculated to South Carolina State College, where she received the Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was successfully employed as a school teacher in the Lee County Education Association for over thirty five years. She loved her profession and left an indelible mark on the youth of Lee County. On January 23, 1961, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, the late Mr. Oliver Witherspoon. They enjoyed thirty three years of marital bliss. She was a life-long faithful member of Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served in several capacities over the years until her health declined. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Fisher, Sr. She leaves to cherish precious memories, a very devoted sister-in-law, Dr. Margaret A. Fisher of Tampa, Florida; four nieces, Sheila Coleman and husband, Attorney Gregory Coleman of Atlanta Georgia, Dr. Denise Fisher and Sharon Fisher of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Margaret Jackson of Tampa Florida; one nephew, Robert Fisher, Jr. of Winston Salem, North Carolina; devoted cousins, Jeremiah Ealey and his wife, Sophia, Daniel Ealey of Sumter, Georgia Fisher Coker of Columbia, SC and Minnie Brown ; brothers-in-law, Theodore Allen, Woodrow Allen and Albert Jackson all of Tampa Florida; very special friends and caregivers, Eva Singleton, Lavern McNeal , Gladys Witherspoon, Ruthie Hodge, Carol Albert and Mamie Colleton and a host of other relatives and friends.
