Mrs. Linda Diane McCormick-Smith

Life Reflections Born in Columbia, South Carolina on April 25, 1964, Linda Diane McCormick-Smith, wife of Roland Lee Smith, was the youngest daughter of ten children born to Mrs. Pauline McCormick and the late Paul McCormick. She first attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Columbia and later joined Trinity Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She first attended Columbia High School and later graduated from C.A. Johnson in the Class of 1982. She attended Benedict College and completed her studies in Nursing at Midlands Technical College. She met the love of her life, Roland Lee Smith and they married March 23, 1994, they were married for 28 years. Their loving union was blessed with two (2) children, Rinika and Alexis. Mrs. McCormick-Smith was employed by the State of South Carolina at CM Tucker Center for many years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to her music and talking on the telephone. She was an excellent cook (her favorite was macaroni and cheese, turkey wings, greens and potato salad.) She taught her husband how to cook and he took excellent care of his beloved life partner. She was very lively and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. McCormick-Smith was preceded in death by her father, three (3) brothers; Jackie, Larry and Lawarren McCormick. She leaves to cherish precious memories her mother, Mrs. Pauline McCormick, her beloved husband Roland Lee Smith, two (2) children Rinika (Calvin) Jowers and Alexis (Bradley Keyon) Spigner; foster daughter Shanell Richardson; four (4) grandchildren: Zykee, Ahmir, Kai’Ree, Alayah; three (3) brothers, James (Darlene) McCormick, Cornell (Connie) McCormick and Scott (Regina) McCormick; three (3) sisters: Lottie Washington, Deborah Miller and Doris Spry; two (2) special sisters Ruthene Carter and Carole Caldwell; three (3) sisters-in-law: Cathy Smith, Leyla Campbell, and Rene Hill; two (2) brothers-in-law Leroy Smith and Curtis (Zakyia) Hill; father-in-law Leroy Burrell; and a special niece, Sherlyn Campbell.
