Lucinda Griffin Moody

On late Monday evening, October 10, 2016, the Lord decided to pick a flower from His garden, Mrs. Lucinda Griffin Moody. She was born on September 7, 1919 to the late Kirk and Ola Mae Griffin in Pickens County, South Carolina. She was the last sibling of the family. Mrs. Moody was affectionately known as “Cille” to her family and friends. Lucinda received her education in the Pickens County School System. She re-located to New York City in the 1930’s and worked as a factory worker for twenty- five years. While in New York, she met and married Essic Moody in July of 1947. After a few years, they returned to the Sumter community and enjoyed a happy simple life. Lucinda enjoyed cooking, gardening,and traveling. She assisted her husband on the family farm along with working at Campbell Soup Company for 16 years until retirement. Mrs. Moody was a devoted wife, aunt and friend. Mrs. Moody was an active and loyal member of Greater St. Paul Non-Denominational Church and served on the Missionary Board and wherever she could assist. Lucinda Moody was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish beautiful memories: a loving and dedicated niece, Cathy A. Griffin of Decatur Georgia; sister-in-law Martha A. Griffin of Charleston, South Carolina ; other nieces, Shermette (Patrick) Upson of North Augusta, South Carolina and Halimah Shah, Sumter, South Carolina nephews: Bernard Campbell, Sumter, SC,Bernard (Shirley) Griffin, Charleston, South Carolina, Eddie (Jackie) Griffin, Columbia, SC, Sherman (Shaundra) D. Griffin, San Antonio, Texas, and Olin (Rosa) Jackson, Augusta, Georgia; special friends, Deacon Dean Walker and Alma Mouzon of Sumter, SC and a host of other, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
