On Sunday August 30, 2020, the Lord called another soul from earthly labor to heavenly reward. Magdalene Amaker Dukes, wife of Eddie Dukes, departed this earthly life at Prisma Health Baptist, Columbia, South Carolina. Born July 10, 1952, in North, South Carolina, she was the second of two children born to the late Wilbur Hook and Mary Thomas. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in the Class of 1969. She married the love of her life in March of 1969, and to this loving union five sons were born. Later the family expanded to include a daughter. She was a devoted wife and mother to many, especially children. In her spare time, she loved to sew, cook, and clean. She also enjoyed shopping, talking on the phone to share how great the Lord was in her life. Her passion and devotion to God and her church, The Gospel Church of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, allowed her to be very active in her faith walk. She was a devoted member of the Gospel Choir, the Usher Board, and wherever her gifts and talents were needed. She was a good and faithful servant of God. She was also passionate about planting and nourishing beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings: Mary Ann Scott and Buster Thomas. She leaves to cherish precious memories her husband of fifty-one years Eddie Dukes of the home; a daughter Janet Bell of Columbia; five sons: Eddie Ronald Dukes (Adrian), Randy Dukes, Bryant Lamont (Jennifer) Dukes, all of Columbia, Steven Dukes of East Orange, New Jersey, and Andrae Terrell Dukes (Ashley) of Anderson, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Bryant Lamont Dukes, Jr., Sasha Huskey, both of Virginia, Nasce Dukes of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Andrae Terrell Dukes, Jr., Mariana Dukes, Kayden Dukes, all of Anderson, Tanika Johnson and Chelsea Adams, both of Columbia; two great-grandchildren: Makayla Anderson and Wesley Anderson of Virginia; three sisters: Cheryl Paige of Connecticut, Renee Tamu Hook-Ford of New York, and Sabrina "Brenda" Johnson of Columbia; brother Joseph Thomas of Connecticut; and other relatives and friends.
