May 7, 1936 - July 24, 2021
Mildred Lindsay Page was born on May 7, 1936 in Honea Path, South Carolina to the late J.P Lindsay and Minnie Tressia Lindsay. She was called to her heavenly home on July 24, 2021 at Prisma Baptist Health. Mildred obtained her high school education from Mather Academy in Camden, one of the few all black private high schools in the state of South Carolina. She continued her education by attending and earning her bachelor’s degree at Allen University. Upon graduation, Mildred used her knowledge and expertise to provide financial and accounting services at her various places of employment including Hopkins High School, Allen University and Brown and Stanley Law Firm, just to name a few. While at Mather Academy Mildred met the love of her life her husband James F. Page Sr. James and Mildred were blessed with two beautiful children, James Jr. and Persephone. They were blessed to share 26 wonderful years. After marriage Mildred joined Chappelle Memorial AME Church where she served as a faithful member for over fifty years. Mildred faithfully served her church in a variety of capacities; the Chancel Choir, Steward Board, Stewardess #1, Debs and Master’s Program, Class Leader #9, Finance Committee and Woman of the Year 2002. She also served as the Chair of the Grandparents Day Committee that provided a token of appreciation and recognition to all grandparents of the church every year. Mildred not only served her church family but faithfully served her community. Mildred and her late husband were one of the founding members of Club 24, a community organization that provided scholarships and service to those in need. For years she served as treasurer of the MLK Neighborhood Association that worked to improve the park and surrounding community. To know Mildred was truly a privilege as she was known for always putting others ahead of herself. Even though she only birthed two children she was a mother to so many others. During the time she worked at Allen University she opened up her home and heart to students that needed a place to stay in order to complete their education. Her home was open to family, friends as well as strangers in need. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Page Sr., her daughter Persephone Page, her siblings James Lindsay, David Lindsay, Robert Earl Lindsay, Frances McDavid and Elizabeth Thompson. She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories: her son James Franklin (Tamica) Page Jr.; her grandchildren Ashley (Jordan) Bookhart, K’Shawn Motley, Kaitlyn Page, and Kyra Page; three sisters Ora Lee Makins, Dorothy Jones Beeks and Willie Ruth Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends.
