February 24, 1961 - April 20, 2019
Persephone Angelia Page was born on February 24, 1961, in Columbia, SC, to Mildred Lindsay Page and the late James Franklin Page, Sr. On Saturday, April 20, 2019, God stepped in and took one of his smiling angels. Persephone obtained her education from the Richland County school system, graduating in 1980 from Dreher High School. She continued her education at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC, pursuing a degree in Art. While there she realized her passion for fusing her artistic gift with her culinary talent. She was the lead cake decorator for various Piggly-Wiggly stores in Columbia, SC. Her exquisite culinary talent enabled her to acquire clients across the state and southeastern region, including a client for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Her passion for the arts instilled a drive in her nieces’ abilities and talents that enabled them to earn many awards. She was a lifelong member of Chappelle Memorial A.M.E. Church in Columbia, SC. As a child, she was a member of the Children and Junior Choirs, Children Usher Board, and the Young People’s Division (YPD). As an adult, she was a member of the Pulpit Aide Committee. In observance of Grandparents’ Day at the church, her role on the committee was to reach out to various businesses for donations. She also diligently served as a member of the Hospitality Committee. To know Persephone was to envision and witness her sweet smile and spirit. She was always willing to assist others, even during her time of illness. Her passion to keep moving has always been evident in her willingness to assist, even though she may not have been feeling well. Persephone was preceded in death by her father, the late James Franklin Page, Sr. (1985). She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories: her mother, Mildred Lindsay Page; her brother, James Franklin (Tamica) Page, Jr.; three nieces: Ashley Brittany Page (like her daughter), Kaitlyn Tamia Page and Kyra Angelia Page; a nephew, K’Shawn Motley; three aunts: Ora Makins, Dorothy Beeks, and Ruth Cunningham; and a host of cousins, church members and friends.
