Phillip Baker

January 13, 1950 - March 2, 2021

Phillip Baker left this earthly realm for his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 2 , 2021, at his residence in Columbia, South Carolina. Born January 13, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Jesse L. Baker and Kathleen Gregg. Raised in Brooklyn, he graduated high school in the Class of 1968. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1968; after three tours, he retired in 1987. In 1971, he met the love of his life, the former Elouise McKenzie, and they married June 23, 1973, in New York City. To their loving union, three sons were born. After leaving the military, they settled in the southern states to raise their sons. Phillip loved music, spending time with family, fishing, and photography. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved bride Elouise. He leaves to cherish precious memories three sons: Roshawn Baker, Phillip Lavette (Theresa Thompson) Baker Sr., and Leo O'Mar Baker; six grandchildren: Rahasaan Baker, Alexus Baker, Phillip L. Baker Jr., Jalen Flemming, Konkeisha Frazier, and Raheen Harrison; three great-grandchildren: Royal Baker, Zyren Miller, and Milaya Baker; four sisters: Gloria Baker, Sabrina Baker, Tanya (Philip Corley) Baker-Corley, and Eva McCaskill; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
