SAMUEL SANDERS JR

December 10, 1927 - January 19, 2021

Samuel Sanders, Jr. departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home in Sumter, South Carolina. Born on December 10, 1927 in Denmark South Carolina, he was one of nine children born to the late Samuel Sanders, Sr. and Elzona Tyler Sanders. Mr. Sanders was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County. Reared in a Christian home, he received the Lord Jesus as his Savior at the tender age of thirteen and continued his Christian journey throughout his life. After moving to Sumter in 1962, he met and married Wilhemena Nelson and to this loving union a daughter was born. He joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Trustee Board, as Hall Monitor and “The Men of Wisdom”. During his 60 years of employment, he worked for Daniels Construction, Boyle Construction and Gaymon Construction Companies as a Master Brick Mason. In the community, he was a member of the Corinthian Lodge #200, Masonic Order. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhemena N. Sanders; brothers: John Sanders, Olade Sanders, Benjamin Sanders and Louis Sanders. Those left to cherish precious memories are his daughter, Valerie Sanders Wells, Sumter, SC; three sisters, Celina Sanders, Bronx, NY, Lessie Mae Davis, Washington, DC and Samella Sanders Washington, Denmark, SC; two brothers, David Sanders, Denmark, SC and Willie Sanders, Bronx, NY; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
