March 26, 1930 - April 11, 2017
Mrs. Wilber Clavon Davis, widow of the late Charlie Davis Jr. departed this earthly life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Born in Lee County on March 26, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Dock Clavon Sr. and the late Sarah Williams Clavon. Mrs. Davis was educated in the public schools in Sumter County. At an early age, she joined Galilee Baptist Church, Mayesville, South Carolina where she served faithfully and cooperatively in many capacities including: Superintendent of the Sunday School, President of the Pastor Aid, visionary of the Jubilee Choir, and also a member of the Gospel Choir. She retired from Cooper Tools. Mrs. Davis has graced our lives by her personality as well as her loveliness. Her simplicity was reflected in her warm smile and kindly manner. She created a self-portrait on a life canvas that showed the best side of living - displayed by her genuine concern for her family, friends, and church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dock Clavon Jr. and Cryous Clavon; two sisters, Ollie McLeod, and Sarah Blyther; two grandchildren, Raymond L. Rogers III, and Becky A. Davis. She leaves to cherish precious memories: four sons, Dock (Ronetta) Clavon, Fayetteville, NC, Charlie Davis III, Sumter, SC, James E. (Loretta) Davis, Myrtle Beach, SC and Anthony (Carrie) Davis also of Sumter, SC; seven daughters, Bobie Rush, Betty (Johnny) Mouzon, Patricia (Bobby) Buckman, Mary D. Sanders, Harriett (Franklin) Moore, all of Sumter, Marilyn (James) Neal of Pinewood, SC, and Theresa Martin of Columbia, SC; 35 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Green, and Betty Dwyer of Sumter, and Annie Mae James of Myrtle Beach, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
