Mr. Christopher Lionel Jones

Christopher Lionel Jones was born on April 19, 1968 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Barbara Jean Jones and the late Woodrow Jivers. "Chris", as he was known to by friends and family, departed this life Sunday, December 29, 2013 from Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Chris was educated in the public schools of Columbia, South Carolina. He attended Eau Claire High School. Chris was a Master Iron Cutter and skillful Scrap Iron Welder. He worked with several companies throughout his career, including Smith & Son Scrap Iron, Dawkins Construction, and Allied Fiber Company. Christopher was baptized at Laurel Street Baptist Church at a young age. He later joined Dennis Chapel Baptist Church. He loved praising the Lord and discussing the bible. Chris was a loving son, caring brother, proud uncle, and great friend. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts of all those who loved and knew him. Chris was a kindhearted, hardworking man; even during his illness, he continued to work. He dearly loved his family and friends. He was very independent, free-hearted and always looked out for others. He loved to laugh and had a way of making all around him smile and laugh. His favorite sayings were, “You have to get it together, and elevate yourself” and “If a bullfrog can pull a freight train, hook him up” and you might have also heard him tell someone “You tough enough” if they were doubting their ability to accomplish a specific task or goal; as well as, “I’m behind the wheel of a car, I know I can’t drive” when confronted with a tough situation. Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Chris are his devoted sisters, Beverly Adams of Lexington, South Carolina; Patricia (Bernard) Geddis of Columbia, South Carolina; and Melinda Jones of Columbia, South Carolina, his brothers, Mr. Troy (Leslie) Jones of Columbia, South Carolina and Mr. Terry (Mamie) Jones of Columbia, South Carolina. Chris also leaves behind, five aunts, five nieces, four nephews, and a host of cousins, other loving relatives, and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his untimely departure. Services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Palmer Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The public may view beginning at 12 noon on Friday, January 3, 2013 until closing at 8:30 PM.
