Ms. Hattie Ann Bradley

A Tribute to Ms. Hattie Ann Bradley Ms. Hattie Ann Bradley was born on September 19, 1930 to Harry Julius and Mary Bradley in the little town of Britton, SC. She departed this life on Saturday July 11, 2026 after a brief stay at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. She graduated from Eastern High School in Sumter, SC. After high school, she worked for the Silver Moon Café in Sumter, SC for several years. Ms. Hattie later worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Sumter where she proudly retired after 20 years of dedicated employment. She was one of the first African Americans to be employed with Campbell Soup. She also paved the way for other African Americans to gain employment with this company. Ms. Hattie bore and raised four loving children all while working to provide a stable home for all of them. She worked hard and she was deeply proud of the life she built; proud that she worked full-time, maintained a home, and raised her four children all on her own. Without hesitation, she would quickly let you know - "I did it all by myself". Every day she proved what resilience truly looked like. She also had her own little way of putting people in their place before they even realized it. Ms. Hattie lived a life filled with simple joys that made her life rich. Throughout her life, well into her late 80s, Ms. Hattie enjoyed cooking, baking, growing and caring for her houseplants, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, shopping, and sitting on her front porch. Most of that time spent with friends & family was mainly on her front porch. Once she retired, if you were looking for her, you knew exactly where to find her — on her front porch. That porch was filled with laughter, many stories, and countless moments shared with friends and family. It was her gathering place, her comfort, her little piece of Heaven. She also enjoyed watching her crime shows, especially NCIS, all while bundled up under her favorite blankets, even in the heat of summer. Ms. Hattie loved her family wholeheartedly. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. They affectionately called her "Granny", a name she wore with pride and love. She most certainly loved those great‑grands and those great‑great‑grand babies. Ms. Hattie lived a long, beautiful life — one marked by her strength, independence, laughter, pride, tact, and love. Her legacy is not just in the 95 and a half years she lived, but in the hearts she shaped. And those hearts will carry her forward, always. Ms. Hattie is preceded in death by her parents; by her oldest son, Joseph Bradley; her daughter, Earnestine Bradley; and her oldest daughter, Hattie M. Brockington. She leaves behind a legacy carried lovingly by her son, Mr. Willie A. Bradley, and his wife, Dorothy, of Lawton, OK; her loving granddaughter, Natasha Brockington‑Days, and her husband, Thomas, of Hopkins, SC; her grandson, Nicholas Brockington, and his wife, Kenitra, of Pearland, TX; her granddaughter, Krista Rhodes, and her husband, Dana, of Hinesville, GA; her grandson, Willie A. Bradley Jr., and his wife, Christine, of South Lyons, MI; five great‑grandchildren, Tazhanique Brockington, Joshua Brockington, Nikya Brockington, Kori Brockington, & Jordan Brockington; six great‑great‑grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who will forever cherish her loving memory.
