Louise Singleton Grant

Louise Singleton Grant, 86, wife of the late Rev. Harrison Grant entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Country Gardens Living Facility in Union City, Georgia which was named the number one facility in Atlanta for 2015, where she was treated and cared for with dementia. Born on March 24, 1929 to the late Sammie and Elizabeth Williams Singleton. Mrs. Grant was a 1972 graduate of Hillcrest High School Adult Education. Although her husband pastored for over 35 years, as she stood steadfast with him in winning souls to Christ, she remained a member of Hopewell Baptist Church until 2004. Mrs. Grant then joined New Israel Missionary Baptist Church to support her son, Dr. D.L. Grant, Sr. where she also was very instrumental and was named "Mother of the Year". Louise Singleton Grant took pride and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, baking and babysitting "Little D.L. Grant". These gifts were always appreciated. Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harrison Grant, Sr.; an infant son, Harrison Grant, Jr., an infant granddaughter, Destiny Elaine Grant; two sisters Maggie Singleton and Josephine Williams Jones; four brothers: William "Bull Dog" Singleton, Sam Singleton, Joseph Singleton, and Willie Singleton. She leaves to cherish precious memories: three daughters, Mrs. Fannie Louise (Joseph, Sr.) Murray, Rembert, South Carolina, Mrs. Lizzie Elaine (David-Ronnie) Clarkson, Columbia, South Carolina, Deaconess Martha Ann (Deacon Corbett) Scott, Fredricksburg, Virginia; three sons, Ret. MSGT. Sgt. David J. (Maggie) Grant, Indian Head, Maryland, Mr. Dennie L. (Vanessa ) Grant, Los Angeles, California, and Dr. D.L (Sandra) Grant Sr., Dalzell, South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Singleton Lloyd, Stratford, Connecticut, Mrs. Ruthell "Ruby" Singleton Williams, Dalzell, South Carolina; three brothers, Mr. Solomon (Bertha) Singleton, Dalzell, South Carolina, Ret. CW5 Jesse (Debhora) Singleton, McDonough, Georgia and Mr. Clarence Singleton, Stratford, Connecticut; an additional sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe "Sister" Singleton, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren which includes First Officer of ExpressJet Airlines (member of the first all female African American flight crew) Stephanie (Marcus) Grant who gave tender loving care and attention to her grandmother while in Country Garden Assistant Living and D.L. Grant, Jr. who was the apple of her eye; 16 great-grand children; two great great grandchildren; three dear girlfriends: Mrs. Elease Walker, Mrs. Earline Swann, and Mrs. Thomasina Singleton; special caregivers: Derrie and Sandra Grant, Virginia Singleton, Lizzie Elaine Grant Clarkson, Ruthell (Ruby) Williams, Jeannette Witherspoon, Aaron and Lillie Harris, Country Gardens Living Facility staff, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
