Louise Dozier Hudson

Date of Service: November 28, 2012 Louise Dozier Hudson, daughter of Dora and Sam Dozier was born in Latta, South Carolina. Her parents moved the large family, Louise being one of ten children, to Washington, DC in the early 1940's. In washington, DC, Louise received her formal education. Soon after graduating from high school, Louise married and from that union, two sons were born; Lexton Willis, Jr. and Stephen Willis. She and her family ventured to New Britain, Connecticut and after settling in, she decided to pursue a career as a surgical technologist. Her endavors in this field provided her with a great deal of experience in being of service to others and interacting with the public. Louise's jovial and industrious personality eventually led her to pursue her lifelong interest in becoming an entrepreneur. As a result of this interest, Louise opened a retail consignment boutique in Southern Pines, North Carolina. She maintained this business for several years and was an active member of various civic organizations including the Rotary Club. Shortly after marrying her deovted and loving husband, Howard, in 2006, they decided to move to Columbia, South Carolina. Louise immediately took and interest in all aspects of her new community. She became an active member of Journey United Methodist Church. Gradually, she met more people and continued to make friends. After a short period of time, the friendships that she formed developed into a group that she named the "Dining Divas". The "Dining Divas" met on a monthly basis to dine at local restaurants and engage in cultural activities. Louise enthusiastically embraced every opportunity to entertain and have fun and occasionally the "Divas" would end their monthly dinner date at Louise's house or attend a Super Bowl party that she graciously hosted. Louise is also remembered for her bright smile, quick wit and engaging laughter. Louise absolutely loved children and nothing put a bigger smile on her face than seeing a baby or young child. She leaves to mourn, her abiding and loving husband, howard; her two sons, Lexton Willis, Jr. and Stephen Willis; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Lexton Willis, III, and Dillon; a host of nieces and nephews; family and friends. Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Palmer Memorial Chapel.
